What Time Should You Post on Social Media?

Not sure what time you should be posting on social media platforms to get the best engagement? Hootsuite has analysed over 1m posts between July and September 2024 across all different industries and platforms to find out the best times that you should post to get the maximum engagement. So, what time should you post on social media?

Overall, the best time to post on any social media platform across any industry is 8 am on Wednesdays (regardless of the time zone). Here are the best times to post on each platform:

Facebook: 7 am on Saturdays
Instagram: 5 am to 7 am on Wednesdays
X (Twitter): 10 am to 1 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays
LinkedIn: 7 am to 8 pm on workdays
TikTok: 3 pm on Thursdays
Threads: 8 am on Tuesdays
Pinterest: 12 pm on Fridays

While Hootsuite’s research considers these times to be the highest impact and are a great place to start, do test out posting times for your own audience and platforms. Factor in when you know that they will be online from your own knowledge and experience and take into account specific time zones that are most relevant to you. Use your platform and Google Analytics to give you insights into when they engage with your content.

Social media tools

Once you understand what times work best for your content, you can create and schedule it in advance. Create a content calendar for your business year and fill it with information about what your business is up to, such as product launches, tradeshows, and promotions, about which you can build content in advance. You can then create the content and schedule it in advance to publish at the best times for your audience. Use free native tools such as Meta Business Suite or LinkedIn’s scheduler or freemium third-party tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, Later or Metricool, depending on your platforms. You can then focus on the engagement part of social media marketing. Having conversations with your audience, responding to comments, and being social is as valuable as posting, if not more so.

Find out the best posting times for your business on your social platforms and make social media marketing work so much harder for you.
